My name is Socrates Mistos and I am a qualified fully Naturopath, Bowen Therapist and McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release practitioner.
I've had a lifelong interest in health and wellness, especially in the prevention and treatment of illness utilising the body's inherent healing capacity. This led me to study a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Naturopathy at Endeavour College of Natural Health. This four year full-time degree program involved extensive studies in health sciences (biological and clinical sciences, pathology, biochemistry, nutritional biochemistry and pharmacology) and advanced studies in diet, clinical nutritional medicine and clinical herbal medicine, including naturopathic philosophy, principles and practice.
After completing my Naturopathy degree, I undertook studies in the field of bodywork and completed the Diploma of Specialised Bowen Therapy through Bowen Training Australia. This gentle, yet very effective technique has given me the necessary tools to address the root cause of many ailments that cannot be treated as effectively through naturopathic treatment alone. Through my studies and practice in Bowen Therapy, I discovered that scar tissue can contribute to pain and restriction in the body and how untreated scars may thwart any efforts to remedy related pain and restrictions in mobility. In order to address this, I undertook studies in the McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release Technique (MSTR®). This technique has provided me with an additional tool to be a more effective practitioner in providing better treatment outcomes for my clients.
I am passionate about helping my clients improve their health and well-being through dietary improvements, lifestyle modifications, herbal and nutritional medicines and the use of effective holistic techniques. As a healthcare practitioner, my aim is to provide the best possible outcomes for my clients. I prefer to work in a collaborative and integrative approach to treatment in order to provide the best possible health outcomes.
Like many complementary health practitioners, I had to deal with my own personal health issues in the past. I found that conventional medical treatments did not provide all the answers to addressing many of the health problems I faced, so I sought assistance from various complementary medicine practitioners. Many of the treatments I received helped to address various aspects of my health through diet and lifestyle modifications, the use of nutritional and herbal medicines, homeopathic medicines, flower essence therapy and Bowenwork. This personal experience provided me the opportunity to obtain a deeper understanding of some of the underlying causes from a mental, emotional and physical aspect. Combining my clinical experience with the lessons learnt on my own wellness journey, has given me a unique understanding of the complex nature of ill health. As everyone is unique, I offer personalised care to my clients to suit the individual's needs.
I have particular interest and experience in digestive health, respiratory conditions, skin conditions, hormone imbalances, thyroid conditions, fertility, improving energy levels, improving sleep quality, improving general well-being, optimising the immune system, pain management, weight management, men's health, general anxiety and depression support.
I look forward to working with you and guiding you to better health and well-being.
